The Hunger Games

Okay so when I was in Denver with my family over the Holidays, my sister sent me home with her copy of The Hunger Games.  I was kind of unimpressed, so I stopped reading.  But burning in the back of my mind were my sister's words, "The beginning is a little slow.  So I gave it another try.

I picked up where I left off kind of vaguely remembering what had happened, but as I started reading it all came back and I was hooked.  It was a real page turner.  Compared to the last book I read (which was 620 pages), this book was only 370 and I managed to finish it in three days.  As I was reading I kept thinking, man this would make an awesome movie.  So I did a little research and it appears that there will be Hunger Games movie in 2012 sometime.  I checked on IMDB and scanned the cast over to see if they looked at all as I imagined them, and for the most part I think I did pretty good with my visuals.  Anyhoo... if you haven't read this book, check it out!  It's the first book in a series of three and I believe you will love it.  I am starting on book two tomorrow!

The Host

Okay, so I remember when this book was coming out.  I waited for the day it was released.  I think it was May 6th, 2008.  May have been the 8th, but somewhere in there.  I went to Wal-mart and bought it the same day.  I was so excited to read it.  Life was so busy then.  I was working 3 jobs, and found myself only sleeping and socializing in my free time.  I didn't take the time to read the book, so there is sat on my shelf.  The internet was down here off and on for almost a week, so I decided I would read it.  I had forgotten all about it.  I'd had the book almost 3 years and never even read one page.

So I started this last Monday.  I am not a fast reader by any means.  Probably because I rarely read.  I wish it was something I did more.  I believe it makes you smarter, more intellectual.  LOL!  I wasn't able to read a couple of days this week due to busy schedules, so minus the days I didn't read, it took me 5 days to read the 620 pages.  That should tell you how good it is.  I just couldn't put it down.  The book was written by the same author who wrote the twilight series, so it's very easy, descriptive reading.  I love books like this.  Really helps you create images in your head almost like a movie!

Anyhoo, I would really recommend reading it.  If you want to pick up your own copy, you can find it here.

Oh and P.S.  HAPPY EASTER!
